Make an Easel out of Cardboard : Step by Step Guidelines

Cardboard is easy to find household items. It arrives at free of cost when you buy something like electronics or other fragile items. Today we will show you how to use the item to make an easel from it. Follow the below guidelines to know how you will do this.

Gather the required items

You will require the below items for working on the project.

Cardboard: Try to use corrugated cardboard. You can use both thick or thin pieces as per your requirement.

Marker Pen: We will need a marker pen to mark the cutting line. You can use a colored pen if you don’t have access to a marker.

Box Cutter: To cut the cardboard precisely, we recommend you to use a box cutter. However, you can also use a craft knife for accurate cutting.

Glue: We will recommend you to use a glue gun for better results and easier use.

Here are the steps that you need to follow:

Step 1:

Bring out the cardboard and put them on a flat surface. Then measure 22 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. Use the marking pen to mark the measured part. Then use the craft knife or box cutter to cut them. Make sure that the knife is sharp enough to offer you a smooth cut. Now scratch a line in the center of the strips. Then fold the strips in half from the marked line.

Step 2:

Now we will work with the strips again. At first, measure 1.3 inches from the end of every strip and create tabs by cutting them. After that, fold them using hot glue. Make sure that they are properly reinforced using the glue.

Step 3:

Now we will cut 4-8 squares of cardboard using the remaining of it after creating the strips. The measurement of the squares will be 1.3 inches for all. Measure the length as like as previous and then cut using the knife or cutter.

Now you will need to cut the squares in half diagonally for creating triangles. Then place the top of the triangles on top of the folding line. After that, reinforce them with the strips using glues.  They will help to support long cardboard strips.

Step 4:

Now we will create strips as we did earlier, but this time a bigger one. The size measurement of the strip will 5.1 inches wide and 22 inches in length. To make the job easier, start with cutting a piece from the cardboard, which will be more than 22 inches. Then measure 0.98 inches or 2.5 centimeters segment from both sides. Now you can cut them marked part and fold the pieces so that you can end up with a square tube.

Step 5:

Now measure 2.5 cm or .98 inches from each end of the square strip and mark using the marker. Then cut across the marked line. Fold strips one by one to create tabs. After that, fold the squares, tabs up, and glue them together.

Step 6:

Now take the remaining of the cardboard and mark a rectangle of 5.1 inches by 16 inches and cut it out. Then fold the segments to create square tubes and then glue them. Doing so will help you to create stronger legs for your easel.

Step 7:

Now we will pierce the cardboard so that we can connect the 22 inches long legs. Start with producing a mark at 1.5 inches from the end of one leg. Then flit it over to create another mark on its backside.

Now dig through both holes using a pen. Now put two legs next to the pierced one. Then mark the holes in the same please and push the pencil again to connect them. The pencil will keep them connected, and you shouldn't remove it.

Step 8:

Now put the easel in a flat position and then put glues in the two side legs of the cross members. Make sure that you are positioning the legs in your desired distance before gluing. Wait at least 20 minutes to let the glue dry. Now connect the other legs so that they provide enough support to your easel.

You are done!
